Dye Transfer

1976 to 1986

For eight years, from 1976 to 1986, I labored at printing these stories as dye transfer photographs. I was one of the few photographers self printing his work with this process. By 1982, when the industrial prints where exhibited at the University of Pittsburgh Frick Museum, Eastman Kodak classified me as a master dye-transfer printer. They supplied materials and funded a third project, Italian Hilltowns and American Main Street Towns. The prints were exhibited at Graham Foundation Gallery in Chicago and il Diaframma Gallery in Milan.

At this time, there are around 52 dye transfer prints in my archive, most are an edition of 1.
